Epilepsy and art

Abstract: Possessed by the Devil, cured by divine intervention, comic spectacle, object of pity or social outcast! Through the ages, artists who have depicted people with epilepsy have expressed the societal myths and fears that surrounded this disorder. On a more personal level, artists with epilepsy explore heightened sensory experiences and perceptions and the nature of consciousness.
