Epithermal Au–Ag–Se–Te Deposits of the Chukchi Peninsula (Arctic Zone of Russia): Metallogeny, Mineral Assemblages, and Fluid Regime

Abstract: Numerous epithermal Au–Ag deposits and ore occurrences of the Chukchi Peninsula are localized in the Cretaceous Okhotsk–Chukotka (OCVB) continent-marginal and Late Jurassic–Early Cretaceous Oloi (OVB) island arc volcanic belts and in Early Cretaceous postcollisional volcanic troughs. Volcanotectonic depressions, calderas, and volcanic domes control the location of the deposits. The orebodies of the deposits are quartz–adularia veins, sometimes en-echelon ones forming extending vein zones, as well as isometric … Show more

“…This assumption is consistent with the fact that hessite and empressite are not typical minerals in sediment-hosted stratiform copper deposits. Silver tellurides are characteristic of many epithermal gold-telluride deposits [81,[96][97][98] and are often found in deposits of other types (volcanic-hosted massive sulfide (VHMS), intrusion-related gold deposits (IRGD), etc.) e.g., [67,[82][83][84]99,100].…”

“…Furthermore, most of the Au-Ag LS epithermal deposits in Chukotka belong to the Se-bearing type (Korrida, Valunistoye, Dvoynoye, etc.) whose ores contain important amounts of selenium-bearing minerals [25,26]. In the Koch-Bulak deposit in Uzbekistan, the main selenium concentrators are sulfides and sulfosalts [27].…”
