Classical knowledge of thallium inorganic chemistry is summarized in the article. The introduction consists of the history, occurrence and distribution, production, and use of this trace element. The properties of thallium(I) and thallium(III) are discussed by the short description of the most important inorganic compounds: hydrides, halides and pseudohalides, oxides, hydroxides, ternary, and more complex oxides, chalcogenides, salts with oxoanions, complexes with multidentate organic ligands, metal–metal bonded Tl‐complexes. The toxicity and the analytical methods are also shortly discussed.
