Equivalence of JT gravity and near-extremal black hole dynamics in higher derivative theory

Abstract: Two derivative Jackiw-Teitelboim (JT) gravity theory captures the near-horizon dynamics of higher dimensional near-extremal black holes, which is governed by a Schwarzian action at the boundary in the near-horizon region. The partition function corresponding to this boundary action correctly gives the statistical entropy of the near-extremal black hole. In this paper, we study the thermodynamics of spherically symmetric four-dimensional near-extremal black holes in presence of arbitrary perturbative four deriv… Show more

“…Complexity of JT gravity following CV conjecture and a comparison of that with the Krylov complexity of the dual SYK model has been discussed in [52]. A higher derivative corrected JT like model has been discussed in [53] which encapsulates the near extremal behaviour of a four dimensional black holes with arbitrary quartic corrections in four dimensions. In this paper, we also briefly discuss the late time complexity growth rate of this higher derivative corrected JT like model in two dimensions.…”

“…This link prompts one to investigate the connection between JT gravity, near-extremal black holes and the SYK model at the low energy limit [7][8][9]. A suitable modification of JT gravity by higher derivative terms also captures the dynamics of higher derivative modified, four-dimensional near-extremal black hole [10]. More generally, JT gravity theories defined on any manifold with at least one asymptotic boundary depends on the choice of the boundary curves and one has to do a path integral over the different choices for these curves as well [3,8,11].…”
