After a few years simultaneous German translation was introduced, as we not only had Hungarian delegates (trauma, orthopaedic, plastic, general surgeons), but also surgeons and therapists from Austria, Germany, Russia, Czechoslovakia and the Netherlands (Renner and Fekete, 1993). The large number of participants from Germany was explained by the ''wall'' between the two Germanies, with young surgeons from the Eastern side only able to travel East towards Hungary.…”
