ERP implementation in rural health care

Abstract: Enterprise resource planning (ERP) systems provide organizations with the opportunity to integrate individual, functionally-oriented information systems. Although much of the focus in the popular press has been placed on ERP systems in large for-profit organizations, small hospitals and clinics are candidates for ERP systems. Focusing information systems on critical success factors (CSFs) allows the organization to address a limited number of areas associated with performance. This limited number of factors ca… Show more

“…Daniel (1961) is remarked to be one of the first to discuss the concept of "success factors" in the management literature (Soliman, Clegg, & Tantoush, 2001;Trimmer, Kitty, Pumphrey, & Wiggins, 2002); however, it was Rockart (1978) In an effort to understand the contribution such CSFs have made toward ES implementations, this study considers the top 10 cited CSF's from Figure 3 above.…”

“…They also suggested that ERP benefits should be measured from different perspectives. Trimmer et al [64] reported that support for the continuing use of critical success factors helped focus on the benefits of ERP in rural healthcare. Al-Mashari et al [1], on the other hand, argued that ERP benefits could be realized when a close connection is established between the implementation approach and business process performance measures.…”

“…Hospitals require T. integral systems which permit the planning of patient procedures, while simultaneously analysing the required capacity (Van Merode et al 2004). Studies have been carried out analysing the implementation of ERP systems in hospitals (Trimmer et al 2002, Mc Ginnis et al 2004, stressing the improved integration of information (Rubin 1999). It would be necessary to carry out overall studies on the implementation of ERP systems in hospitals focusing on how to increase the capacity of existing systems while also reducing data-integration costs (Khoumbati et al 2006).…”
