Abstract: Background: Glutamate transporters (excitatory amino acid transporters, EAAT) regulate extracellular concentrations of glutamate, a major excitatory neurotransmitter. We reported that acute ethanol exposure increases the activity of a major neuronal EAAT, EAAT3.
