“…Dale et al (2007Dale et al ( , 2008 published UV-to-radio broad-bands SEDs for the SINGS galaxies. The listed data comprises the FUV (∼1500 Å) and NUV (∼2300 Å) filters of GALEX , 2MASS data for J, H, and K s (Jarrett et al 2003), and IRAC and MIPS data for the filters centred on 3.…”

“…Apart from all non-optical Dale et al filters up to MIPS 160 μm, their catalogue provides photometry of the Sloan Digital Sky Survey (SDSS; Stoughton et al 2002) in u , g , r , i , and z for 32 SINGS objects. Moreover, the Dale et al (2007Dale et al ( , 2008 optical magnitudes of 23 galaxies without SDSS photometry were recalibrated by means of the catalogue of Prugniel & Heraudeau (1998), i.e., their aperture photometry was replicated on the SINGS optical images to derive zero-point corrections for each filter and each galaxy. For our sample selection we have required either the presence of SDSS photometry or at least Fig.…”

“…Most regions in the KINGFISH sample were also included in the Spitzer Infrared Nearby Galaxies Survey (SINGS) (Kennicutt et al 2003;Dale et al 2006;Smith et al 2007b). This survey used the Spitzer Space Telescope to obtain infrared imaging and spectroscopy for 75 nearby galaxies.…”

“…In most cases, the larger BtP maps were covered with Spitzer /IRS by only the LL module. All observations were reduced with the CUBISM program to create spatially resolved spectral cubes and processed using the IRS pipeline version S14 producing and absolute flux calibration uncertainty of ∼ 25% Dale et al (2006). For more information on these observations and data processing, see Smith et al (2007a).…”

“…Instead of collecting data from any available literature source, we restrict our selection to only a few well-documented, homogeneous compilations. For the ultraviolet, we select FUV (1350-1750 Å) and NUV (1750-2800 Å) measurements principally from the Galaxy Evolution Explorer (GALEX) atlases of Buat et al (2007), Dale et al (2007), and Gil de Paz et al (2007). At present, only ∼16% of our sample has published GALEX data, although the situation will soon improve substantially with the recent completion of the All-Sky Imaging Survey.…”
