Erratum: High-energy photons from quark-gluon plasma versus hot hadronic gas

Abstract: There was an error in the computer program used to make some of the graphs. All curves for n-n-+py should be reduced by a factor of 2. This error does not appear in any formula in the text. We thank Chungsik Song for finding this error. There is a sign error in Eq. (4a). It should readThe definition of the charge asymmetry parameter on page 1208, line 18 of the second column, should read a = ( N + + -N --) / ( N + + + N --) .

“…In the hadronic phase π and ρ mesons contribute dominantly to the photon production due to the low mass of pions and the large spin iso-spin degeneracy of ρ mesons [26]. The leading photon producing channels involving π and ρ mesons are ππ → ργ, πρ → πγ, and ρ → ππγ.…”

“…In the QGP phase, the 2 → 2 photon production channels involve quark-gluon Compton scattering and quark-antiquark annihilation. The logarithmic infrared divergence from soft collisions is regulated by using a HTL-resummed internal quark propagator [34,35]. The hadron gas (HG) phase is modeled as an interacting meson gas within the SU(3) × SU(3) massive Yang-Mills approach used in previous studies (see, e.g., Refs.…”

“…The broad a 1 resonance may act as an intermediate state in πρ scattering and thus provide an important contribution [41,40] via it's decay into γπ. In the vicinity of the critical temperature T C a hadron gas was shown to "shine" as brightly (or even brighter than) a QGP [36].…”

“…The production rate and the momentum distribution of the photons depend on the momentum distributions of quarks, anti-quarks and gluons in the plasma. If the plasma is in thermodynamic equilibrium, the photons may carry information on this thermodynamic state at the moment of their production [36][37][38][39].…”
