These results are in keeping with field studies correlating leaf breakdown inhibition with pesticide exposures (Sch€ afer et al 2007, 2012, Rasmussen et al 2012b, Brosed et al 2016, and offer a mechanistic explanation for such impacts, underscoring the indirect effects of insecticides through invertebrate decomposers at sublethal concentrations.
