Przegląd Dermatologiczny 2015/1 StreSzczenieWprowadzenie. Erythema ab igne (EAI) to rzadka choroba skóry (od czasu popularyzacji centralnego ogrzewania) charakteryzująca się siateczkowatymi zmianami rumieniowo-przebarwieniowymi wywołany-mi długotrwałą ekspozycją na promieniowanie podczerwone. Schorzenie przebiega zwykle łagodnie, niemniej przewlekłe narażenie na ciepło może skutkować pojawieniem się w obrębie naskórka komórek dysplastycznych, a nawet rozwojem raka kolczystokomórkowego. Patogeneza schorzenia wciąż nie jest w pełni poznana. Cel pracy. Przedstawienie trudności diagnostyczno-terapeutycznych związanych z EAI. Opis przypadku. Przedstawiono przypadek chorej z EAI, u której zmiany wystąpiły w wyniku stałego narażenia podudzi na ciepło emitowane przez urządzenie grzewcze w trakcie pracy w kwiaciarni, oraz piśmiennictwo dotyczące praktyki klinicznej, diagnostyki różnicowej i metod terapii tej choroby. Wnioski. Chociaż EAI jest schorzeniem rzadkim, konieczna jest wzmożona czujność onkologiczna u każdego pacjenta z tym rozpoznaniem. AbStrActIntroduction. Erythema ab igne (EAI) is a rare skin disease (since the common use of central heating) characterized by reticular, erythematous and hyperpigmented patches resulting from chronic exposure to infrared radiation. Although the condition is generally benign, chronic heat exposure can induce dysplasia and, rarely, squamous cell carcinoma. The pathogenesis of the disease is not yet fully understood. Objective. Presentation of the diagnostic and therapeutic difficulties in a patient with EAI. Case report. The patient had erythema ab igne that developed on the shins, due to the effect of a heating device used in the flower shop. The clinical presentation, differential diagnosis and available treatment options of the disease are described. Conclusions. Erythema ab igne in a rural Indian womanSir, Skin is prone to physical, chemical, mechanical and thermal injuries as it is the largest and the outermost organ covering the entire body surface area. Erythema ab igne (EAI) is a cutaneous reaction to heat environment. EAI is a classic example of environmental and occupational dermatosis. Recently, we encountered a case of EAI and share our experience with a brief review of the causes.A 36-year-old woman from rural Karnataka (south India) presented with asymptomatic lesions over the legs since two months. On examination, reticulate hyperpigmented net-like pattern was observed on the lateral aspect of the right and medial aspect of the left leg [ Figure 1]. Lesions were absent over the medial aspect of the right leg and lateral aspect of the left leg. She recalled history of prolonged exposure to heat while cooking in front of an earthen oven with a wood-burning fire on the ground since several years. She used to tie her sari higher up and below the knees was not covered by clothes, a practice often followed by rural Indian women while cooking to avoid soot and fire particles that could damage her clothing. History and clinical examination revealed the diagnosis of EAI.EAI is caused by repeated and prolonged exposure to infrared radiation insufficient to produce a burn.
