Erythrocyte lithium–sodium countertransport and total body lithium pharmacokinetics in patients with affective illness

Abstract: Previous studies suggested that in patients with affective illness, lithium ion accumulated more in erythrocytes (higher erythrocyte lithium ratio) as well as in the total body (greater lithium retention).
