In this study, a unique bus stop design proposal was developed for the city of Ankara, inspired by various Hittite Sun Course examples that lived in these lands thousands of years ago, in order to protect passengers from accidents that may occur at bus stops and to become a part of the city identity of the stops.
Figure A. Ankara bus stop design proposalPurpose: In this study, it is aimed to protect the passengers at the bus stops against effects such as rain, snow, sun and traffic accidents, to improve the comfort conditions, to design an original bus stop suitable for the ergonomic, technological, cultural and aesthetic requirements of the passengers.Theory and Methods: Sketch works of the bus stop were inspired by the Hittite Sun Course, and then the main form that forms the shell of the stop was modeled with AutoCAD and 3D Max programs in the computer environment. As a result of the evaluations made later, the final form was decided and drawing and visualization studies were completed. Results: It was inspired by the dome structures of Mimar Sinan and the Hittite Sun Course form dating back to 4250 years, as the stops are part of the city's identity, as they are protected against possible natural effects and accidents at bus stops, and for this purpose, a unique bus stop design proposal has been developed for Ankara province. In addition, the energy needed will be produced and stored with solar panels placed on the roof of this new generation bus stop, designed with a sustainable city approach.
Conclusion:The bus stop designed for the city of Ankara; It is an original urban equipment design proposal that is expected to protect passengers waiting at the bus stop against natural effects such as rain, snow and traffic accidents thanks to the reinforced steel plates and carbon fiber reinforced composite surface coating material used in the shell of the shell, and also to establish an effective bond with the historical texture of the city. Thanks to the solar panels placed on the stop, the energy needed for night lighting and information screens can be provided and the equipment such as phones and tablets of the passengers waiting at the stop can be charged.
