Esophagectomy for End Stage Achalasia

Abstract: Esophageal myotomy is the standard primary therapy for achalasia. However, reports on long-term results of myotomy have suggested a deterioration of outcome over time with many patients presenting with end stage disease several years after esophagomyotomy.
