ESSAVis: A 2Dplus3D Visual Platform for Speeding Up the Maintenance Process of Embedded Systems

Abstract: Modern embedded systems contain complex structures, as they are composed of many subsystems. Maintaining such systems requires collaboration between the engineers who designed them and the engineers who analyzed the failures in them. In this paper we present our proposed visual platform ESSAVis, a 2Dplus3D environment, to help both kinds of engineers in understanding the failure mechanisms of such systems. The goal of the proposed platform is to improve the understanding of the failure mechanisms in these syst… Show more

“…The goal of this proposed platform is to reduce the gap between different participating groups and to accelerate the maintenance process with better efficiency and accuracy. For this, we developed a visual interactive 2Dplus3D environment called ESSAVis++, which is an enhanced version of our previously developed tool, called ESSAVis (Embedded Systems Safety Aspects Visualizer) [AlTarawneh et al (2013[AlTarawneh et al ( , 2012]. ESSAVis++ has been designed to overcome the limitations of ESSAVis, e.g., by allowing the users to navigate at different level-of-detail on-demand in the target safety abstract graph representation or enabling the users to change the configuration of the scene on-demand in order to get the additional information about the required system component.…”
