Background: Plantar fasciitis is a common cause of pain in the heel which occurs as a result of inflammation of the plantar aponeurosis at its attachment on the calcaneal tuberosity. Myofascial Release Technique is intended to improve the mobility of soft tissue through application of a slow, controlled mechanical stress directly into a restriction. Pressure is gradually increased or repeated until the mobility of the tissue is felt to improve. Purpose: The purpose is to study the scientific evidences regarding the effect of the myofascial release technique in plantar fasciitis. Methodology: A search for relevant articles was carried out using key words- plantar fasciitis, myofascial release technique, pain and function and search engines- Google Scholar, PubMed, PEDro, ScienceDirect, ResearchGate and CINAHL. Studies were selected from year 2010-2019. Ten studies were included in which there were 7 RCT, 1 Prospective experimental study, 1 Quasi Experimental study and 1 Pre-post interventional study. Results: 10 studies were reviewed from which 7 studies concluded that MFR is more effective than a control group receiving sham treatment or conventional treatment and 3 studies highlighted MFR to be equally effective to alternative treatments. Conclusion: Based on the analysis of these 10 articles, it can be concluded that MFR is an effective treatment regimen in individuals with Plantar Fasciitis. Clinical Implication: MFR is found to be effective in reducing pain and improving functions in individuals with plantar fasciitis, therefore MFR technique can be considered as an adjunctive treatment in plantar fasciitis. Buffalo milkers are more prone to de Quervain's tenosynovitis due to their working process and repeated use of thumb, wrist and fingers. If there is any pain or problem in hand or wrist can have impact on milking ability which can lead to change in their economic status and quality of life. There are only few studies done on the population of buffalo milkers and problems regarding their occupation. Thus this study was aimed to find prevalence of de quervain's tenosynovitis in buffalo milkers & Aware them about this condition to avoid further damage. The study was conducted with 92 subjects in and around Karad. Subjects were selected as per inclusion and exclusion criteria and consent was taken. Both males (43) and females (49) subjects were included for study. Then they were assessed with help of Finkelstein test and Visual analogue scale the data was collected and analysed accordingly. Simple random sampling was used to select the subjects for study and it is conducted in and around Karad Taluka. The sample size was calculated by de quervain's tenosynovitis taken at 64%. After analyzing the data, it was found that there is a prevalence of de Quervain's tenosynovitis. In all participants 43% people have de Quervain's tenosynovitis. It is found that prevalence of de Quervain's tenosynovitis is more in females than males and pain distribution is more in age group of 41 to 45years. So it concluded that the prevalence of de Quervain's tenosynovitis is more in females and precautions should be taken by buffalo milkers by modifying their work strategies to avoid further damage.

Prevalence of Scapulothoracic Joint Dysfunction in Patients with Lateral Epicondylitis

Background: Lateral epicondylitis is a cumulative trauma disorder or repetitive motion disorder which is characterized by pain in the lateral epicondyle of humerus. This condition is mainly seen in individuals those who have repeated use of elbow like housewives, cooks, heavy load lifter, tennis player, painters, plumbers, carpenters, auto workers and in even butchers. As human body work as a unit. It is a kinetic chain if there is problem elsewhere in a body then nearby structures may also get affected. The patients those who have lateral epicondylitis are either avoid the movements of affected hand or do trick movements due to which proximal muscles undergo into weakness and it will leads to scapulothoracic joint dysfunction. This study was conducted to find out scapulothoracic joint dysfunction in patients with lateral epicondylitis.Objective: To find out prevalence of scapulothoracic joint dysfunction in patients with lateral epicondylitis.Method: An observational study was carried out using a cross sectional study design. The study was conducted in the city of Karad, Maharashtra. Study was conducted using a sample size of 21 patients with lateral epicondylitis (n= 4pq/L 2 ) for a period of 6 months. The inclusion criteria was 30-50 years of age group and both male and female were included who were having lateral epicondylitis and exclusion criteria was the subjects with upper quadrent musculoskeletal problems and any thoracic surgery within past 6 months and subjects who have any spinal deformity like scoliosis. Result:The results showed that there was significant dysfunction in scapulothoracic joint in patients with lateral epicondylitis by using DASH questionnaire, scapular retraction test and scapular load test. Conclusion:On the basis of the result of the study, it was concluded that there is significant dysfunction in the scapulothoracic joint in patient with lateral epicondylitis.
