Establishing Gender Categories and Hierarchies: The Evolution of Rabbinic Discourse on the Creation of Woman

Abstract: This article examines the evolution of rabbinic interpretative discourse on the creation of woman, as depicted in the Hebrew Bible, addressing well-known rabbinic writings from the fifth to the tenth centuries.
