“…The marketed products correspond to 67 species, while the total number estimated, using the ICE algorithm (Chao et al, 2015), was 88 species. These numbers are low compared to the 126 plant species sold in the public markets of the state of Tabasco and the 108 species in the markets of the municipality of Centro (Centurión-Hidalgo et al, 2019). The difference is due to the fact that in the markets the species are moved through a network of central supply centers, and include species not cultivated in the region, while in the roadside stands there are products from "Yo no acepto cuando me piden lo menos, en vez de eso les digo que les daré el pilón [extra de producto], y así me ha funcionado, se acostumbran y ya no piden lo menos (Puesto CH_1, hombre de 67 años)".…”

“…Among these, the natural products or the main ingredient of the processed products were noted; they were identified by their common name based on information provided by those in charge, and their identity was checked against photographs and lists in the literature on local agrobiodiversity. This allowed us to determine the species involved in the system (Centurión-Hidalgo et al, 2019;Maldonado Mares et al, 2000).…”
