Abstract:Accurate estimates of malaria vaccine efficacy require a reliable definition of a malaria case. However, the symptoms of clinical malaria are unspecific, overlapping with other childhood illnesses. Additionally, children in endemic areas tolerate varying levels of parasitemia without symptoms.
