Estimation of body size and growth patterns in Korean boys

Abstract: BackgroundAnthropometric surveys devised by each country attempt to fulfill the requirements of the manufacturers, designers, and human welfare device production, providing them with data and tools and allowing them to face both the internal and export markets. To this end, national anthropometric data collections and comparisons including three-dimensional information, together with comparison of these data among countries, are conducted at both the domestic and global levels.MethodsThe anthropometric data of… Show more

“…The popularity of cataract surgery and IOL implantation has increased in Korea over the past decade, and multifocal IOLs are the most frequently selected lenses [ 17 ]. The TFNT00 IOL may provide good VA at intermediate distance for Korean subjects, for whom average arm length is between 53 and 59 cm [ 18 , 19 ]; however, no clinical studies have been conducted in this population.…”

“…Overall, this study provides broad advantages on the biological parameters of height growth of children living at high altitudes, so far as known, it is the first study conducted in Peru at 3820 m above sea level, moreover, the results obtained in this study can be used as a baseline for multiple comparisons in the future, e.g., to verify secular growth trends, as well as to compare with other altitude studies with similar characteristics, and even recently Lee 30 highlights that human modeling tools based on anthropometric data and morphological characteristics can be applied for industrial purposes (for clothing and other human-oriented design processes).…”

“…For age-specific analysis, the TRAIN and TEST groups were then split into the TRAIN_U20 (aged 7–19 years; 2,609 males and 2,560 females), TRAIN_A20 (aged 20–69 years; 1,760 males and 1,571 females), TEST_U20 (aged 7–19 years; 1,338 males and 1,298 females), and TEST_A20 (aged 20–69 years; 862 males and 768 females) subgroups. The study protocol was approved by the institutional review board of the KAST 26 and are available to the public and have been used in several publications 20 , 27 .…”
