Estimation of Luliconazole and Clobetasol Propionate by Rp-HPLC

Abstract

A simple, specific, accurate, rapid, robust, and selective method for the stability of high-performance liquid chromatography (RP-HPLC) has been developed, and validated for the simultaneous estimation of antifungal (Luliconazole) and anti-inflammatory drugs (clobetasol propionate). Forced decomposition studies were performed to evaluate product stability. The column used was a Waters (Sunfire) X Bridge C18 column (250 mm x 4.6 mm, 5 µm) with a flow rate of 1 mL/min. Both drugs were detected simultaneously at 250 nm and the retention time was found to be 1.87 min for luliconazole and 4.35 min for clobetasol propionate. The developed method can be routinely used for the simultaneous estimation of the drugs Luliconazole and Clobetasol Propionate. It works against fungal infections such as ringworm, ringworm, and tapeworms by slowing the growth of the fungus. Luliconazole showed higher potency against Trichophytonrubrum, Trichophytonmentagrophytes, and Trichophytonsurans than existing standard drugs such as Terbinafine, clotrimazole. Luliconazole is a white, water-soluble powder with a molecular weight of 354.267 g/mol. Clobetasol propionate exerts its effects by releasing the anti-inflammatory protein phospholipase A2; thus it regulates arachidonic acid which is a precursor to inflammation
