Estimation of Stature from Parts of Humerus and Radius

Abstract: The study took 193 right and 189 left, dry, fully ossified human humeri to derive regression formulae for the establishment of the total length of the humerus from the upper and lower segments, the line of division between the segments being the lowest level of insertion of the deltoid muscle. Also studied have been 151 right and 126 left, dry, fully ossified radii to derive regression formulae for establishment of the total lengrh of the radius from the upper and lower segments, the line of division between th… Show more

“…15 Some researchers indicated that the foot in a male grows to its adult size by 16 years of age. 16 Stature estimates are estimates, they are not exact and should always be expressed with range of error.…”

“…In a study conducted by Ebraheim et al, 60% cases presented a deeply concave and 40% shallow concave fibular incisura [13]. Several authors have derived linear regressions to estimate the maximum length of long bones from the measurement of its fragments in different populations (10,14,15,16,17].…”

“…The age range of the subjects in this research is appropriate since stature at 18 years is accepted as adult [29,30]. Some researchers indicated that the foot in a male grows to its adult size by 16 years [31,32]. Hence, the minimum age was fixed as 18 years to conduct this study.…”
