“…It is likely that these discrepancies arise not only from the methodological differences but also from the extent of the periodontal disease in the group that underwent therapy. Namely, our patients had a significantly lower degree of periodontium destruction than the patients who were the focus of research conducted by Kale et al [56] and Wei et al [25]. This difference, in our opinion, could have led to significantly higher SOD values in the aforementioned studies because these authors emphasized the important influence of periodontal pocket depth on plasma SOD values.…”
