Estimation of the amount of dry deposition in an urban area (Kobe city, Japan) by the inferential method

Abstract: 10.1007/s00410-002-0431-0 The amount of dry deposition of SO 2 (g) and HNO 3 (g) in an urban area in Japan has been estimated by the inferential method. The mean annual dry deposition of SO 2 (g) (2.91 kgS/ha/year) was close to or less than that in the Clean Air Status and Trends Network (CASTNet) of the U.S. (3.59 kgS/ha/year). The mean annual dry deposition of HNO 3 (g) (10.8 kgN/ha/year) was approximately six times larger than that in CASTNet (1.85 kgN/ha/year). The proportions of dry/(dry+wet) deposition f… Show more

“…For example, the HNO 3 concentration was 0.6 µg N m −3 on the North China Plain [17], 0.34 µg N m −3 on an urban-facing site on Mt. Gokurakuji 0.09 µg N m −3 in Kobe city in Japan [27], [28], 0.59 µg N m −3 at Montelibretti in Italy and 0.60 µg N m −3 at Paterna in Spain [29]. Urumqi has some of the highest air pollution in China due to the large amounts of coal combustion for industrial development and residential heating resulting in high HNO 3 concentrations.…”
