Estimation of Water-Soluble Vitamin B-Complex in Selected Leafy and Non-Leafy Vegetables by HPLC Method

Abstract: A high performance liquid chromatographic method (HPLC) equipped with photodiode array detector (PDA) has been used to determine the water-soluble vitamin B complex ( B1, B2, B3, and B6) in eleven selected vegetables of Bangladesh. The results showed varied levels of vitamin B-complexes. Precisely, Thankuni leaves showed the highest contents of vitamin B1; 0.19 mg/100 g, and vitamin B2; 0.25 mg/100g. Higher content of vitamin B3 (0.59 mg/100 g) were quantified in Coriander leaves, but absent in Jute leaves. On… Show more

“…Adequacy of HPLC-DAD method [12] which was used in this study for determining vitamins B1, B2, B3 and B6 was confirmed in a validation process through satisfactory results for limits of quantification, linearity, reproducibility and accuracy as well as through interlaboratory comparison testing. Results established through dietary supplement analysis were interpreted based on allowed tolerance as defined in the Guidance document [13] [14], као и електрохемијски детектор [15]. У овом раду од интереса су били радови где је примењен HPLC систем са DAD детектором.…”

“…From the scientific literature data, it can be inferred that the fundamental technique for determination of vitamins B1, B2, B3 and B6 is precisely the HPLC technique coupled with a variety of detectors. In addition to DAD detector, which was used in this study, for determining B-group vitamins PDA detector [14] as well as electrochemical detector [15] are used. In this research, the studies where HPLC system was coupled with DAD detector were of interest.…”

“…The mobile phase consisted of a mixture of 100-mM sodium phosphate buffer (pH 2.2) containing 0.8-mM sodium-1-octane sulfonate and acetonitrile at a 9:1 (v/v) ratio at 40 • C. The flow rate was kept constant at 0.8 mL min −1 , and a PDA detector was used with an absorption rate of 270 nm. The detection and quantification of B vitamins was determined according to the report published by Mozumder et al [49].…”
