Estratigrafia da faixa de dobramentos Paraguai-Araguaia no centro-norte do Brasil

Abstract: The Paraguai-Araguaia Fold Belt, constituted during the Brasiliano Cycle, extends to the north of Bananal Island, with submeridian trend. Between the 9<;> 30'S and 3<;> 30'S parallels, the fold belt is represented by the Baixo Araguaia Group, an ophiolitc belt, some granitic bodies and by the Rio das Barreiras Formation. The Baixo Araguaia Group comprises three formations named, from the bottom to the top, Estrondo, Couto Magalhães and Pequizeiro, the latter one being of magmatic-sedimentary characted related … Show more

“…In his early model, Almeida (1974) stated that the ultramafic lenses were magmatic bodies intruded along deep fractures into the Tocantins-Araguaia megasuture zone. Later, an ophiolitic nature was postulated for these bodies by Hasui et al (1977), who suggested a close genetic relationship with the Pequizeiro Formation (Tocantins Group), which was believed at the time to have a magmatic-sedimentary nature. Abreu (1978) Fig.…”

“…região de Tucuruí e Breu Branco em direção a Marabá para sul, não se reconhecendo na literatura outras unidades correlacionáveis na região. Inicialmente, foi sugerida a correlação do Grupo Tucuruí com coberturas sedimentares do Pré-Cambriano do Cráton Amazônico do Paleoproterozoico (Hasui et al, 1977), o que não foi confirmado, ou fazendo parte do Cinturão Araguaia (Hasui et al, 1984).…”

“…Some investigations have suggested a Brasiliano (900-500 Ma) age for the structural development of this belt (Hasui et al 1977, Souza 1984, Teixeira 1984, Santos et al 1984, Abreu 1990. In contrast, thermo-tectonic events related to the Uruac, uano orogeny (1.4 -1.0 Ga.) have been proposed as the major tectonism responsible for the deformation and metamorphism of the Araguaia Belt by Hasui et al (1980), Hasui et al (1984a) and Herz et al (1989).…”
