“…We have shown that ethanol directly inhibits hCG stimulated testosterone production by rat isolated Leydig cells, results which are in agreement with those of Cicero et al (1980). In part, ethanol exerts its effects directly at the membrane level (Rajan et al -1982) and probably also at the level of the smooth endoplasmic reticulum (Murono et al -1980). Our results suggest that to study the direct effect of BR on testicular steroidogenesis, control incubation media should contain identical amounts of ethanol as incuba-tion with BR.…”
