Ethylene glycol assisted three-dimensional floral evolution of BiFeO 3 -based nanostructures with effective magneto-electric response

Abstract: Controlled growth of nanostructures plays a vital role in tuning the physical and chemical properties of functional materials for advanced energy and memory storage devices. Herein, we synthesized hierarchical micro-sized flowers, built by the self-assembly of highly crystalline, two-dimensional nanoplates of Co- and Ni-doped BiFeO 3 , using a simple ethylene glycol-mediated solvothermal method. Pure BiFeO 3 attained scattered one-dimensional nanorods-type morpho… Show more

“…For the first time, Scott reported this method and this measurement is known as the positive up and negative down (PUND) measurement. 39 In the present communication, all the samples are examined at 100 V cm −1 electric field strength along 1 ms pulse width, keeping 1 s pulse delay, and pictorial representation is provided in Fig. 8 .…”

“…Different glycerol/ethylene glycol ratios alter the viscosity, which controls the ionic diffusion rate and thus governs the aggregation of the NPs, leading to the formation of nanostars from nanorod bunches ( Figure a–c). [ 105 ] Citrate‐based structural growth has also been observed in BiOCl using sodium citrate, [ 106 ] and hierarchical BiFeO 3 with a 3D floral pattern has been grown in ethylene glycol, [ 107 ] while molecular organic framework (MOF)‐modified BiFeO 3 microcages [ 108 ] have also been observed.…”

“…6 As a matter of fact, many compounds possess multiferroic characteristics but these features become significant at temperatures that are much lower than room temperature (RT), while BiFeO 3 (BFO) is the only material that exhibits multiferroic features above RT. Hence, a significant research work has been devoted to the analysis of pure as well as doped BFO; either at A-or B-sites [7][8][9][10][11][12][13][14][15] in order to address the issues related to pure BFO. Naturally, it crystallizes as rhombohedrally distorted perovskite shape with space group R3c, whereas it can also exist occasionally in hexagonal crystalline form, having a and c lattice parameters as 5.58 and 13.90 Å, respectively.…”
