Abstract:BackgroundPulmonary alveolar proteinosis (PAP) is a rare syndrome caused by several distinct diseases leading to progressive dyspnoea, hypoxemia, risk of respiratory failure and early death due to accumulation of proteinaceous material in the lungs.
