Euzebya pacifica sp. nov., a novel member of the class Nitriliruptoria

Abstract: A Gram-stain-positive, aerobic, chemo-organotrophic, rod-shaped, non-spore-forming strain, which produced convex, circular, pink-pigmented colonies, designated as DY32-46T, was isolated from seawater collected from the Pacific Ocean. DY32-46T was found to grow at 20–40 °C (optimum, 30–35 °C), pH 6.0–8.0 (optimum, pH 6.5) and with 0–5 % (w/v) NaCl (optimum, 1–2 %). The results of chemotaxonomic analysis indicated that the respiratory quinone of DY32-46T was MK-9(H4), and major fatty acids (>10 %) were C17 : … Show more

“…S7). Accordingly, the predominant menaquinone in the closest related strains, Egicoccus halophilus [9], Egibacter rhizosphaerae [10], Euzebya rosea [60], Euzebya tangerina [8] and Euzebya pacifica [61] was also MK-9(H 4 ). Although no previous information about the respiratory quinones of N. alkaliphilus ANL-iso2 T was reported, in the present work, MK-9(H 4 ) was also identified as the major menaquinone in this strain (72.2%) by comparison with the menaquinone HPLC profile of strain AS10 T (Fig.…”

“…Like its closely related strains, AS10 T presented an A1ϒ-type cell-wall peptidoglycan, but instead of the meso -diaminopimelic acid found in Egicoccus halophilus [9], Egibacter rhizosphaerae [10], Euzebya tangerina [8], Euzebya rosea [60] Euzebya pacifica [61] and N. alkaliphilus [7], AS10 T presented 3-hydroxy-diaminopimelic acid, which is common for certain sporoactinomycetes, as members of the family Micromonosporaceae [62].…”
