Evacuation simulation of an Ro-Ro passenger ship considering the effects of inclination and crew’s guidance

Abstract: The emergency scenarios of passenger ships are reproduced unrealistically by evacuation drills due to cost and safety limitations, and model simulation is an effective alternative method. To study the evacuation efficiency of an inclined ship, a deck of a Ro-Ro ship with 1065 passengers was modeled on a simulation platform developed based on a social force model (SFM). A series of inclined scenarios were produced by adding the walking speed attenuation factor to the individual parameters. Furthermore, the infl… Show more

“…Thus, emergency management simulation research addresses simulations that represent the movement of people who congregate in sports arenas, touristic sites, and other leisure venues [ 8 , 9 ], as well as in large ships [ 10 ], in the presence of unusual and extreme conditions such as the breakdown of some facilities or adversarial situations such as fire or panic.…”

“…Passengers need to wear life jackets and use LSAs [18]. According to the requirements of the muster card, they need to choose upper or lower decks or move to another side of the ship according to the accident situation [19,20]. • Thirdly, there are many adverse factors, such as weather conditions, ship motion, and ship listing.…”
