In today's education market, web portals have become one of the vital tools for higher education institutions (HEIs). Because web portals play an important role as a means of interaction and effective communication channel between all academic staff. At the same time, web portals act as one of the key elements of increasing the competitiveness of ATMs by creating conditions for effective management of all information resources owned by ATMs. Because the use of web portals allows ATMs to attract more students, as well as to apply interactive and innovative teaching methods. During the writing of the article, using research methods such as content analysis, literature review, comparison and generalization, the factors determining the application of web portals in ATMs, the main goals of using web portals in ATMs, as well as the advantages it provides and indicators of students' use of educational portals were investigated. In addition, the experience of UNEC, which is selected in terms of the successful implementation of the web portal in Azerbaijan, was studied and the main functions of web portals in the digital university model were studied.
