“…This slag is highly contaminating and its reduction and disposal are two of the main challenges for the aluminum industry. 15 Also, it is composed of metals and non-metallic substances such as aluminum oxides and salts (Al 2 O 3 , NaCl, KCl, CaO, NaAlCl 4 , KA l Cl 4 , SiO 2 , MgO, among other substances). 12 Compared to the primary aluminum production process, the secondary aluminum production process has a 95% reduction in electricity consumption.…”

“…The AHP method is constructed on the pairwise comparison to compute the weight of each criterion. The AHP permits experts to determine the significance of each criterion during comparing other criteria from 1 to 9, from "same importance" (1) to "completely more important" (9). Building a decision tree, decision-maker is permitted to first describe weights of the main criteria, and then decision-maker can describe the lower level subcriteria that exactly describe the tested multicriteria issue [28].…”

“…Also, by recycling secondary aluminum, resources are saved, the need for landfill area could have been decreased, and the public opinion would be satisfied. A lot of dross is produced as a waste product during remelting or refining aluminum [9]. Although aluminum dross is a waste of current resources, in case of being landfilled without suitable treatment, it will lead to the secondary contaminants which would affect air, water, and soil [1].…”

“…EAD contains a certain amount of toxic and harmful substances including AlN and soluble fluoride salts. During the formation of EAD, the molten aluminum exposed to air reacts with nitrogen to generate a large amount of AlN, which is slowly hydrolyzed in contact with water or moist air at normal temperatures to generate toxic and pungent ammonia. , The amount of ammonia released from AlN hydrolysis in 10 g of EAD can reach about 1.09 L. Furthermore, the released ammonia can burn the skin and respiratory tract, and even cause severe pulmonary diseases . Ammonia also easily dissolves in water, causing serious water pollution.…”
