Abstract-The traditional learning approaches (i.e. educational philosophies or paradigms) of behaviouralism, humanism, cognitivism, social learning theory and constructivism, have been the foundation of instructional design and teaching practice. Connectivism, considered a learning paradigm in its infancy by some and a learning theory by others, augurs a more intrinsic approach for learning in the 21 century. This study explores the perceptions of 76 higher education learners regarding the use of a connectivism pedagogical approach through the use of personal learning environments. Forming part of a project to evaluate the effectiveness of personal learning environments to support self-directed learning, and thus indirectly self-regulated learning, semi-structured interviews was utilized. Results obtained include improve learner motivation, engagement, collaboration and self-actualization. Of special interest was the element of self-actualization, generally associated with humanism. In addition, learners found the new learning environment challenging, requiring them to think critical about module content. Self-directed learning, supported by the pedagogical approach of connectivism and personal learning environments, is postulated to be a crucial skill set for the 21 century learner.

Knowledge management establishes connections among Information and Communication Technology (ICT), education, leadership, organizational behavior and strategy. The goal of this research is to investigate whether there is a significant difference between multiple intelligences and learning behavior of engineering students in the subject named Theory of Computation (TOC). This study intended to reveal how students differ in the ways they learn. Although, all the students are inclined to learn, however their way of learning is different from person to person as well in absorbing new information. Considering student`s multiple intelligences this study was aimed at summarizing the ways in which ICT is used, and how it creates new learning opportunities. This study examines the impact of Multiple Intelligences on knowledge sharing and knowledge acquisition behavior.

Teacher competency requires current and continuous professional development. ICARE (Introduction, Connection, Application, Reflection, and Extension) is a program designed to develop teachers' competency. This study aims to improve elementary school teachers' competency in literacy assessment, specifically for creative thinking skills in science, through ICARE. Twenty-one elementary school teachers in public elementary schools from urban, suburban, and rural settings were involved. The study was conducted in 40 sessions. Data were collected using pre-test and post-test and observation of training sessions. This study used two tools for data analysis: Normalized Gain (N-Gain) and inferential statistic (t-test). The results show that elementary school teachers in urban, suburban, and rural areas had good knowledge of literacy assessment for creative thinking skills in science. The ICARE approach was very effective in helping the teachers improve their knowledge in creating an assessment instrument of creative thinking skills in science. Further research must involve more teachers, from both public and private elementary schools and other educational institutions.
