The kinetic experiments at various working conditions (ie, temperature: 500 C-900 C, pressure: 1-15 bar, H 2 O/CH 4 ratio [S/C ratio] of 1-2.5, and gas hourly space velocity of 900-1700 1/h) in the presence of LaNiO 3 perovskitetype oxide were done to consider and assess the outcome of steam methane reforming (SMR) and to build up its kinetic models depending on Langmuir-Hinshelwood method in a fixed bed reactor. The outcomes demonstrate, the methane conversion, H 2 and CO yields and formed CO 2 are affected by the working parameters. Elevated temperature is profitable for more methane conversion, H 2 and CO yield. While high temperature has a negative effect on mol % of CO 2 in outlet products. The high working pressure will not profit SMR respect to CH 4 conversion and products distribution. The efficacy of S/C ratio on the CH 4 conversion and CO yield depended on temperature range. H 2 yield considerably diminishes with an increment in S/C ratio, while the trend was reverse for CO 2 value in outlet gas. The accuracy of suggested kinetic model was evaluated by correlation and statistical tests. Outcomes exhibited that the obtained data were well anticipated through the suggested model, owning to presumption of nonideal gas phase and by utilizing reasonable equation of state of PPR78. Methanol steam reforming over Co‐Cu‐Zn / γ‐Al ₂ O ₃ catalyst: Kinetic and RSM‐BBD modeling approaches

Summary To develop kinetic model for methanol steam reforming, the experiment tests at various operating conditions (ie, temperature: 180°C‐500°C, pressure: 1‐11 bar and H2O/CH3OH ratio [S/M] of 0.75‐3.75) on Co‐Cu‐Zn/γ‐Avnl2O3 catalyst. The kinetic model development relied on Langmuir‐Freundlich (LF) method. Also, three second‐order model applied by using response surface methodology‐box behnken design (RSM‐BBD) approach to predict the various responses including methanol conversion, H2 and CO yield. The deviation of kinetic model in predicting responses was 10.86% and showed good forecasting H2 yield compared to other responses. However, RSM‐BBD approach had a better ability in predicting the methanol conversion with error of 5.21% than products selectivity. The methanol conversion and CO yield were almost constant (equal zero) up to 260°C. The methanol conversion of 100% reached close to 500°C at pressures of 1 and 6 bar. An augmentation in S/M led to enhance in methanol conversion and H2 yield, while this trend for CO yield was reverse.

Combined steam and dry reforming of methanol (CSDRM) experiments were applied to measure the responses of CH 3 OH conversion, H 2 /CO ratio, H 2 and CO yield at a temperature range of 300 C to 900 C, CO 2 /H 2 O ratio of 0.5 to 2.5 and (CO 2 + H 2 O)/CH 3 OH ratio of 1 to 3 on Fe-Mn-Cu/ZrO 2 catalyst in a fixed bed reactor. Fe-Mn-Cu/ZrO 2 catalyst was synthesized via the co-precipitation approach, and its physicochemical properties were examined through X-ray diffractometer, X-ray fluorescence, temperature-programmed reduction, N 2 adsorption/desorption and thermal gravimetric analysis tests. A kinetic model for CSDRM reaction was derived via the Langmuir-Freundlich method and the proposed mechanism included three reversible reactions on three types of active sites. A Mamdani-type fuzzy model was also developed for comparison purposes, as there was no need for detailed knowledge of the process. The error of the kinetic and Mamdani-type fuzzy model approaches obtained 12.69% and 16.42%, respectively. H 2 yield obtained from kinetic model values was closer to the experimental data compared to other responses. However, for the fuzzy model approach, the difference between experimental and calculated methanol conversion was lower.
