Evaluation of a combined laser‐radio frequency device (Polaris WR) for the nonablative treatment of facial wrinkles

Abstract: Nonablative wrinkle reduction or skin tightening is desired by individuals who, ideally, hope to have the skin improvement associated with chemical or laser ablative techniques but without the undesirable recovery process. Electro-optical synergy (ELOS) technology that combines radio frequency (RF) and diode laser energy (900 nm) was used to treat 15 patients in this IRB sanctioned study. Energy settings were based on the depth of wrinkles (the greater the depth and concentration of wrinkles, the higher the RF… Show more

“…Such absorption can initiate mitochondrial retrograde signaling through photomodulation [14]. In addition, SR, ST, and MxIR can activate the wound healing process, stimulating collagen synthesis in dermis, and thus refining the tiny rhytides of the skin [8][9][10]15]. Finally, the improvement of dermatitis and restoration of the skin barrier also likely contributed to the improved skin texture.…”

“…Radiofrequency is now commonly used in treating skin laxity clinically [23,24]. It has been used in skin tightening on the cheeks, the eyelids and the abdomen [24][25][26].…”

“…Overall, average wrinkle improvement was 41.2%, while pore size and pigmentation improved by 65%. This approach was successfully used to treat deep wrinkles and photoaging in several studies without significant side effects [7,8]. Hammes et al [9] reported a notable improvement in skin rejuvenation.…”
