Abstract: Northern wild rice (NWR; Zizania palustris L.) is a wind-pollinated, annual, aquatic grass that grows naturally in the Great Lakes Region (GLR) of the United States and Canada, and is also cultivated in flooded paddies, predominantly in California and Minnesota.
