Evaluation of antihyperglycemic activity of plants in northeast mexico

Abstract: iabetes mellitus is one of the most common non-contagious diseases. In 2017, The International Diabetes Federation reported that around 425 million people suffer from diabetes worldwide. Medications used for the treatment of diabetes lead to unwanted side effects, and thus, new safe drugs are necessary. Some natural plant-based products exhibit anti hyperglycemic activity and low toxicity. The aim of this study was to evaluate the antihyperglycemic activity (using both in vitro and in vivo models) as well as c… Show more

“…Among the extracts evaluated, the methanolic extract of T. diffusa did not show inhibitory activity of α-glucosidase or α-amylase enzymes; nor did it affect intestinal glucose absorption in the inverted sac test, as the extract did not generate a significant reduction in glucose area under the curve (AUC) with respect to the negative control. Conversely, in the glucose tolerance test with rats, there was a significant reduction of glucose AUC with respect to the starch control at doses of 0.5-5 mg/kg [57].…”

“…ICD coding serves as an international standard and sophisticated discipline utilized for classifying and coding diverse health conditions and medical diagnoses, constituting one of the paramount indicators within the medical domain[ 25 ]. Precision in coding is indispensable for ensuring the fidelity of patients’ medical records and data, particularly in instances of medical disputes[ 26 ]. Consequently, medical institutions must undertake a series of measures to uphold the accuracy and consistency of coding, thereby enhancing the quality of medical records.…”

“…To determine the ability to attenuate intestinal glucose absorption, ex vivo assays were performed according to the methodology previously reported 49 , with some modifications. HAE and its fractions were evaluated at a concentration of 1 mg/mL, while hecogenin ( 1 ), saponin 2 , and empagliflozin (positive control) were assayed at a concentration of 300 µM.…”
