Evaluation of Apical Sealing Ability of Four Different Sealers using Centrifuging Dye Penetration Method: An in vitro Study

Abstract: Aim The aim of this in vitro study was to evaluate the apical seal obtained with four root canal sealers AH 26, Sealapex, Endoflas FS and AH Plus, with lateral condensation. Materials and methods Sixty root canals were prepared using the step-back technique. The specimens were divided into four experimental groups of 12 teeth and two control groups of 12 teeth. The experimental groups were obturated by laterally condensed gutta-percha with one of the tested sealers and control groups were obturated without a… Show more

“…Similarly, Sagsen et al (21) found no difference between the apical leakages of AH Plus and Sealapex. In the other studies, different results were presented about the microleakage of AH Plus and Sealapex that were related with methodolgical differences used (15,22,23).…”

“…In principle the core material should push the less viscous into unreachable areas such as canal anastomosis, apical delta and into irregularities produced through canal preparation [4] . The sealing ability of various root canal filling materials and root canal sealers have been studied and it has been found that dissimilar constituents seal the canal to different extents [5] . Principle aim of canal cleaning and shaping is to eliminate all pulp material remnants and bacteria along with their substrates and optimum shaping of the root canal space [3] .…”

In the absence of impermeable sealing of the root canal system, failure of endodontic therapy may ensue [7] .…”
