“…Similarly, Severo et al showed that CRP is a useful inflammatory marker in dogs with pemphigus foliaceus. In our study, we evaluated PTX3, which is a similar inflammatory marker to CRP, and we consider that PTX3 is a more specific marker for PV than CRP since PTX3 is expressed by three different cells and is increased in the setting of local inflammation alone, as compared to CRP, which is produced by the liver alone and is increased in the settings of numerous systemic diseases [ 26 ].…”

“…C-reactive protein (CRP) is one of acute phase proteins and being a marker for several diseases (Christensen et al, 2015;Hillström et al, 2016;Bremer et al, 2017;Severo et al, 2018). When the inflammatory cells are activated by different inflammatory stimuli, the acute phase response is triggered and different cytokines are released from the inflammatory cell (Hillström et al, 2015;Gommeren et al, 2018).…”

“…8,19 In veterinary dermatology, the CRP serum level recently was found a valid disease severity biomarker for canine pemphigus foliaceus. 15 To date, there is only one publication that reports a useful biomarker for canine AD. 2 In this paper, a specific ELISA was developed for the canine S100A8 (calgranulin A, one of the two calprotectin subunits), and serum levels of S100A8 rose with increasing levels of AD severity in 213 atopic dogs.…”
