Abstract:The fatigue strength of maraging steel, which is an ultra-high-strength steel, is relatively low, compared to that of conventional high-strength steel. The fatigue life of a structure is highly dependent on the surface conditions, because fatigue cracks generally start at the surface of the material. In particular, surface cracks considerably degrade the fatigue limit.
