On the other hand, effects are reversed in the upper quantiles and being closer to the US diminishes the trade between country pairs due to the possible competition with the US and being closer to China increases the trade between dyads due to Chinese policies which aim to sustain and develop its inward FDI as they are partly discussed in Long (2005) and Narang and Garg (2018). Since the countries that are closer to either side are more open to the influence, policymakers should carefully re-evaluate their relations to the US and China, considering the findings.…”
