Abstract:Biophotons (i.e., photons emitted from living organisms) cause ultra-weak luminescence, induced by reactive oxygen species generated by redox reactions during intracellular respiration. Similarly, regarding the bio-application of atmospheric-pressure plasma in plasma medicine, the oxidative stress reaction by reactive species is involved in the proliferation and cell death of living tissues. We performed non-contact and non-invasive measurements of biophotons released from cultured cells immediately after plas… Show more

scite is a Brooklyn-based organization that helps researchers better discover and understand research articles through Smart Citations–citations that display the context of the citation and describe whether the article provides supporting or contrasting evidence. scite is used by students and researchers from around the world and is funded in part by the National Science Foundation and the National Institute on Drug Abuse of the National Institutes of Health.
