“…Studies evaluating the level of knowledge of enteral nutrition worldwide are mainly conducted on healthcare team members. These studies reported that the knowledge of enteral nutrition was not at the desired level even among healthcare team members (Koçhan & Akın, 2018; Madigan, Fleming, McCann, Wright, & MacAuley, 2007; Özbaş & Baykara, 2018; Theilla, Cohen, Singer, Liebman, & Kagan, 2016; Uysal, Eşer, & Khorsıd, 2011). Wanden-Berghe, Patino-Alonso, Galindo-Villardón, and Sanz-Valero (2019) reported that problems with obstruction of the feeding tube were encountered during enteral feeding.…”

“…'nın (13) yoğun bakımda tedavi gören hastalara enteral beslenmenin başlatılması ve düzenlenmesinin hekim ve diyetisyen olmadan sadece hemşirenin yetkisine bırakıldığı çalışmasında, enteral beslenmenin daha erken başladığı ve YBÜ hastalarının çoğunda kalori hedeflerine ulaşıldığı bulunmuştur. Bununla birlikte literatürde yoğun bakımda çalışan hemşirelerin sadece %27,1'inin enteral beslenmenin uygulanmasında kendisini sorumlu bulduğu ve en fazla sorumluluğun komplikasyonları önlemek olduğu (26), hemşirelerin enteral beslenmeye ilişkin orta düzeyde bilgi sahibi olduğu (33,34) (22) yaptıkları çalışmada enteral beslenme bölünme nedenleri hastaya uygulanan işlemler/prosedürler (solunumsal, radyolojik, operasyon, bakım uygulamaları ve beslenme tüpü kaynaklı), hastalık (GİS kanama, klinik durumun kötüleşmesi) veya gastrointestinal sistem intoleransı (fazla gastrik rezidüel volüm, abdominal distansiyon, bulantı-kusma, diyare) önlenebilir nedenler olarak gruplandırılmıştır. “…20 Considering the complications that EN may cause in patients, 7 the role of nurses responsible for its implementation becomes more important. Although there are studies investigating the knowledge levels and practices of nurses regarding EN, 3,9,12 it is not sufficient to reveal in detail whether the knowledge and practices of nurses on the subject are in accordance with the evidence with this limited number of studies, which have not conducted investigations according to the evidence-based practices in ASPEN and ESPEN guidelines. Therefore, this study focuses on investigating the knowledge and practices of nurses according to evidence-based practices in ASPEN and ESPEN guidelines.…”

“…[6][7][8] It is important for nurses to manage EN practices with appropriate nursing interventions based on evidence in terms of decreasing the duration of hospitalization and increasing the quality of life. 9 Kalender et al 3,[9][10][11] found that the knowledge level of nurses regarding EN and prevention of possible complications was not sufficient. 12 In the studies conducted, EN practices in intensive care units (ICUs) are based on opinions, nurses have low levels of knowledge about EN, they do not use care guidelines and protocols, and they do not know related complications and cannot identify them in the early period.…”
