Abstract: Spittlebugs (Hemiptera: Cercopidae) are species considered to be the main pests of forage grasses throughout Tropical America. In Brazil, Mahanarva spectabilis (Distant) is the main and most limiting pest associated with elephant grass (Pennisetum purpureum Schum.).
