Evaluation of Mechanical Properties for Epoxy reinforced with palm oil /Zinc oxide composites

Abstract: In this research, the effect of reinforcing epoxy resin composites with a filler derived from chopped agriculture waste from oil palm (OP). Epoxy/OP composites were formed by dispersing (1, 3, 5, and 10 wt%) OP filler using a high-speed mechanical stirrer utilizing a hand lay-up method. The effect of adding zinc oxide (ZnO) nanoparticles, with an average size of 10-30 nm, with different wt% (1,2,3, and 5wt%) to the epoxy/oil palm composite,  on the behavior of an epoxy/oil palm composite was studied with diffe… Show more

“…In addition, it causes Weakness in resistance and hardness properties [26]. In general, particulate additives have a higher hardness than the hardness of the polymeric substrate, so the hardness generally improves for the composite material, and this is what the researcher Diyar et.al indicated [20]. “…studied the use of zinc oxide powder in sizes (10 and 30) nm as a reinforcement material with epoxy and studied the tensile, shock, and hardness properties. The results showed that the particles with size (10 nm) gave better results compared to the particle size (30 nm) [20].…”

“…These polymers provide a number of advantages over their petroleum-based counterparts. They may be generated from renewable resources for less money and decompose easily [3]. The features of polymer blends include mechanical strength and stability [4], as well as reduced weight, mechanical flexibility, ease of manufacturing, biocompatibility, and chemical stability.…”
