Evaluation of Micro-Tensile Bond Strength of Fibre Post with Titanium Dioxide Nanoparticles as Fillers in Experimental Dental Composite Resin

Abstract: Background: The clinical success of post-core restorations is determined by the composite utilized and the strength of the post-core adhesion. The effectiveness of titanium dioxide nanoparticles (TiO2 NPs) as a multifunctional material with photo-induced activities and better mechanical characteristics are observed as particle size is reduced to under 50 nm. Aim: The purpose of this study is to determine the bond strength of fibre-reinforced composite (FRC) posts with TiO2 NP as fillers and to compare it with … Show more

“…Thus, both σ t and σ s were calculated in the present work. Since SBS is usually numerically larger than TBS with the same bonding agent and interface [ 39 ], whereas σ s were found all numerically higher than σ t in this work, σ s is more meaningful to discuss than σ t .…”

“…Lower stress links to lower risk of debonding, thus better retention. Tensile bond strength (TBS) and shear bond strength (SBS) are often tested to evaluate the adhesive property of the agents [ 39 ]. Thus, both σ t and σ s were calculated in the present work.…”

“…Antibacterial-adhesive systems combat this. AgNP resins inhibited S. mutans on their surface and at a longer distance than the QADM bonding agent [ 71 ]. Both chemicals did not influence fibroblast cytotoxicity or microtensile bonding.…”

“…2 Within the prodigious lineage of metal-oxide nanoparticles, titanium dioxide (titania) has gained immense popularity owing to its biocompatibility, exceptional optical-mechanical properties, costeffectiveness, and tremendous antibacterial potential. 3 With the introduction of adhesive materials in restorative dentistry, paradigm has shifted to minimally invasive dentistry. Composite resin, being an eminent adhesive material, has primarily substituted dental amalgam as preferred material for posterior restorations.…”
