Evaluation of Monitoring Data in Foods

Abstract: Pesticide residue monitoring data reflect the actual residues in foods as traded and are suitable for estimating consumers’ exposure, evaluating compliance with maximum residue limits, MRLs, and refining future risk-based sampling programmes. The long-term exposure (daily intake) is calculated from the national or regional food consumption data and average residues in the edible portions of food. The non-detected residues may be counted as LOQ, 0.5 LOQ, or 0. The short-term intake is calculated from the large … Show more

“…For the control of imported products, specific import MRLs apply, if available. However, when the results of pre-export control are evaluated, the combined uncertainty of the whole process, including that of sampling, ought to be considered [36] in combination with a properly selected action limit [37][38][39].…”

“…So acetamiprid, cyantraniliprole, emamectin benzoate, malathion pyriproxyfen and spinosad pesticides are used against these pests (BKÜ, 2023a). However, ignorant spraying is very harmful to the environment and human health (Ambrus et al, 2023). It is possible to receive alerts about these pesticides from the Rapid Alert System for Food and Feed portal (RASFF, 2023).…”

“…To control the safe and efficient use of pesticides, their residues should regularly be monitored in food and environmental samples. The samples should be taken randomly and dietary risk assessment should be performed (Ambrus et al, 2023). On the other hand, improper use of insecticides may result in serious risks on human health.…”
