Evaluation of multifunctional properties of polyester/cotton blend treated with unmodified and modified nano-TiO2particles

Abstract: TiO 2 nanoparticles have been synthesised using sol-gel technique by titanium tetraisopropoxide (C 12 H 28 O 4 Ti,) as a precursor. The particle has been modified using 3-aminopropyltriethoxysilane as a surface modifier. The unmodified and modified particles were characterise for size and distribution using a particle size analyser, which works on dynamic light scattering principle. The particles have been applied on polyester/cotton woven fabric for various concentrations of nanoparticles. The treated fabric… Show more

“…Sol–gel and pad‐dry‐cure methods have been frequently employed for the coating of metal nanoparticles to the textiles. Remarkably, a handful of literature documented the UV protection and antimicrobial properties of metal nanoparticles encumbered fabrics . Apart from this, nanoparticles are tremendously synthesized using biological entities and utilized for the evaluation of a number of pharmacological activities like anticancer, antibacterial, larvicidal, antiplasmodial, antidermatophytic activities.…”

“…It is apparent from Table that the UPF values of the fabric are not affected after application of titanium dioxide nanoparticles on dyed aramid fabric. It is reported in the literature that a UPF of greater than 40 is required for a textile fabric to be labelled as a UV‐ protective fabric . In the case of both the dyes, the UPF property of the fabric is retained.…”
