Evaluation of osteomyelitis in diabetic foot ulcers with exposed bone

Abstract: Purpose Exposed bone and periosteal damage promote the adherence of pathogens to bone matrix components. Damage to the periosteum adversely affects bone perfusion and creates a more suitable environment for pathogens.
